MINExpo (Booth #723) - Gemcom Software International Inc. (TSX:GCM), the largest
global supplier of specialised mining productivity solutions, today announced
the release and immediate global availability of Gemcom Minex(TM) 5.3, the
latest version of its industry-leading, comprehensive geological modelling and
mine planning tool for coal and other stratified deposits such as lignite,
phosphate, bauxite, iron ore, and platinum. The software is used globally by
exploration and mining companies, including some of the world's largest
operators, and is becoming the modelling and planning package of choice for coal
mining operations.

Minex is not converted hard rock mining software but a fully integrated system
designed by mining professionals to deal with the specific challenges posed by
stratified deposits. It is especially useful for developing accurate resource
calculations in areas with complex geology including reverse and normal faults.
With features like pit optimisation and scheduling built-in, it provides support
for mining companies with both strategic and tactical functions such as material
movement that can significantly impact efficiency and profits.

New and improved capabilities for Minex 5.3 include:

- Target scheduling that enables mining at a given ore and/or overburden rate;

- Enhanced "playback" and export of schedule animations;

- New geostatistics module with enhanced usability that is shared with Gemcom
GEMS(TM) 6.2 and Gemcom Surpac(TM) 6.1, delivering better visualisation and
improved functionality; and

- Usability enhancements to allow users to become proficient with the software
faster.

"Minex pays for itself by minimising our staffing requirements. Without Minex,
we would need more engineering and field control personnel," said John Wagner,
Topaz mine manager, Brush Resources. "Minex gives us the rewards of quality maps
and reports. When we design a geological model in Minex that looks the same in
the field and the numbers all match up, it gives us a feeling of
accomplishment."

"Minex enables users to do more in less time as it has been designed for
high-speed and efficient modelling," said Jon Barber, Gemcom's vice president of
Minex. "This delivers significant time and cost savings over other mining
packages. Further, with visual confirmation of each stage of the modelling and
design process, it increases confidence in the final model, resources and
reserves."

Gemcom today also announced new versions of four other products: Gemcom
MineSched(TM) 6.0, Gemcom GEMS 6.2, Gemcom Surpac 6.1 and Gemcom Whittle(TM)
4.2. Detailed information on each of these products announced today by Gemcom is
available on the Company's website at www.gemcomsoftware.com/news. For product
demonstrations, visit Gemcom's booth at MINExpo, being held September 22-24,
2008 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas.
