Wells Fargo Increases Employee Matching Grant for Tsunami Disaster Relief to $500,000 Team Members Matched First $250,000 Grant in Less Than One Week SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Wells Fargo said today it has increased its team member matching program for tsunami disaster relief to $500,000, up from $250,000, as a result of unprecedented team member response. In less than one week, more than 1,800 of Wells Fargo's 149,500 team members have reported contributing more than $257,000 to three relief agencies -- the American Red Cross International Response Fund, UNICEF and Global Impact. With the company's previously announced contribution of $100,000 to the American Red Cross, this brings the contributions from Wells Fargo and its team members to more than $600,000. "The generosity of our team members is inspiring and will make a significant difference to help those who have lost so much," said Wells Fargo's chairman and CEO Dick Kovacevich. "This second matching program recognizes and amplifies the heart-felt contributions that our team members are making, while encouraging them to support the immense relief effort underway. We are hopeful this will bring Wells Fargo's combined contribution to over a $1 million." In addition to the twin-$250,000 employee-only matching programs, Wells Fargo contributed $100,000 to the American Red Cross International Response Fund on December 29, 2004. Wells Fargo, with ICICI Bank, is also waiving all remittance transfer fees ($8 per transaction) and foreign currency fees through January 31, 2005 for U.S. customers to send money to friends and family in India impacted by the recent natural disaster.
