PARIS--French dairy company Danone SA (BN.FR) said Thursday it had received court approval for its $10.4 billion purchase of U.S. company WhiteWave Foods Co. (WWAV).

The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia issued an order April 5 that allows the acquisition to be completed, Danone said.

Danone and WhiteWave expect the transaction to close within five business days following the court order.
