Brokerage joint venture Morgan Stanley Smith Barney recently hired financial advisers from Oppenheimer Holdings Inc. (OPY) and independent broker-dealer Commonwealth Equity Services, Inc.

On Oct. 19, George Yao and Andrew Rogers joined Morgan Stanley Smith Barney's Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. office. The team together generated $2.3 million in fees and commissions and reports to Complex Manager Bonnie Mitten.

Before joining Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Yao and Rogers each worked at Oppenheimer for more than three years, according to Financial Industry Regulatory Authority records.

Additionally, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney added Jonathan Price to its Wellesley, Mass. office from Commonwealth. Price, who reports to Complex Manager David Swartz, had $1.1 million in annual production and managed $153 million in client assets.

Price worked at Commonwealth for over 22 years, regulatory records show.

Oppenheimer couldn't immediately be reached for comment. Commonwealth didn't respond to a request for comment.
