CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Goodrich Corporation
(NYSE: GR) will display an array of advanced technology for the
U.S. Army and National Guard at the Association of the U.S. Army
(AUSA) annual meeting, Oct. 10-12,
2011 in Washington,
D.C.
Goodrich (booth 1909) will showcase integrative capabilities in
a system display bringing together several Goodrich technologies
which benefit the helicopter operator. The system display combines
capabilities for mission data recording, TERPROM® terrain awareness
and warning, health and usage management (HUMS), plus SmartDisplay®
electronic flight bag capabilities. Beyond size and weight savings,
the system provides synergy for pre-mission planning, mission
execution and post-mission training and maintenance.
AUSA visitors may view how advanced laser warning systems
enhance helicopter survivability by detecting rangefinders, target
designators and beamrider laser-aided systems. Currently used on
U.S. Army UH-60 Black Hawk and AH-64 Apache helicopters, these
affordable systems provide visual and audio alerts to the
helicopter crew through onboard avionics.
Shortwave infrared (SWIR) sensor systems as well as
gyro-stabilized camera gimbals will be a key feature of the
Goodrich exhibit. These intelligence systems provide helicopter
crews and unmanned vehicles the ability to see through smoke, fog
and dust in a very compact and lightweight package.
Also on display will be electronic engine controls, currently in
production to upgrade CH-47 and UH-60 helicopter engines for the
U.S. Army and National Guard.
In addition, Goodrich will showcase advanced rescue hoists that
feature innovative translating drum technology, allowing for faster
operation, increased performance and enhanced safety in extreme
environmental conditions; inertial measurement units for helicopter
and precision guided munition applications; and ballistic-tolerant
helicopter drive shafts.
