Constellation NewEnergy Finalizes Power Purchase Agreement With
Arlington Independent School District National Energy Provider to
Supply Electricity to More Than 70 Schools and Administrative
Facilities BALTIMORE, July 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Constellation Energy (NYSE:CEG) today announced that its
subsidiary, Constellation NewEnergy, has finalized a two-year
electricity purchase contract with the Arlington Independent School
District (ISD), the ninth largest school district in Texas. The
agreement calls for Constellation NewEnergy to supply electricity
to the district's more than 70 school and administrative
facilities. The Arlington ISD serves more than 62,000 students and
employs 8,000 people, including 4,100 teachers. "School districts
are an important market segment for Constellation NewEnergy, which
is why we're extremely pleased that the Arlington ISD has selected
Constellation NewEnergy as its supplier of competitively priced
energy for its schools and other support facilities," said Clem
Palevich, president, Constellation NewEnergy. "This agreement
demonstrates that we deliver the products and services that Texas
education systems value in today's competitive electricity
marketplace," said David Bat, vice president for the Texas Region
of Constellation NewEnergy. "We are proud to serve the Arlington
ISD and appreciate the trust they have placed with us to serve
their electricity needs." Chuck Thomas, Arlington ISD's assistant
superintendent of Plant Services, said the district went through a
vigorous process to find a provider with a proven track record that
offered competitive prices and value-added services, key factors in
managing energy use in a school system covering more than 94 square
miles. "Constellation NewEnergy's billing and reporting
capabilities provide us with tools needed to help effectively
manage our energy costs," Thomas said. "In addition to educating
our children, our top priority is to be responsible stewards of
taxpayer dollars. This means operating the most efficient school
district possible. I am confident that our agreement with
Constellation NewEnergy will go a long way toward achieving this
goal." In March, the University of Texas (UT) reached a three-year
electricity supply agreement with Constellation NewEnergy for six
campuses in the UT System. The campuses include UT Arlington, UT
Dallas, UT Health Center at Tyler, UT Tyler, UT Southwestern
Medical Center at Dallas and UT Permian Basin. UT Southwestern is
one of the country's leading academic medical centers, patient-care
