Constellation Energy Subsidiary ComfortLink Completes Chilled Water Project in Baltimore 8 Downtown Municipal Buildings Receive Cooling Services BALTIMORE, June 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Constellation Energy (NYSE:CEG) announced today that its subsidiary, ComfortLink, has completed work and begun operating a project to supply chilled water to cool an additional eight buildings in downtown Baltimore. ComfortLink, a partnership between Constellation Energy subsidiary Baltimore Gas and Electric Company and EMCOR Group, Inc., an Arlington, Va.- based leader in mechanical and electrical construction and facilities services, will provide cooling for City Hall, the Clarence M. Mitchell Courthouse, Courthouse East, Peoples' Court, Central District Police Station, Benton Building, Abel Wolman Building, and the Guilford Building. ComfortLink already supplies chilled water to 32 facilities totaling 11.5 million square feet in downtown Baltimore, including the Baltimore Convention Center, the National Aquarium, Garmatz Courthouse and Fallon Federal Building. "We are pleased to provide this service to Baltimore City and are confident that ComfortLink cooling will meet the city's energy needs in an efficient and environmentally friendly manner," said Greg Jarosinski, president of Constellation Energy Source and member of the ComfortLink Governing Board. "Our 10-year management agreement relieves the City of Baltimore of the costs associated with replacing outdated systems used to cool these buildings and brings these facilities into full compliance with the Clean Air Act regarding chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs)." Similar to a large battery, ice storage permits ComfortLink to create up to 6 million pounds of ice daily when electricity is less costly. The ice is then stored in large, insulated tanks. During times when electricity prices are at their peak the ice chills water running through underground pipes to provide cooling to customers' facilities.
