As part of day's events, Operation Constellation Energy Kids will launch with children of Constellation Energy employees assembling 1,300 care packages for the Maryland Army National Guard's 58th Infantry Brigade Combat Team which is deploying to Iraq BALTIMORE, April 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Constellation Energy (NYSE:CEG) announced that it will celebrate Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work(R) today. During this annual event, children of Constellation Energy employees participate in an entire day of interactive activities and presentations that connect what they learn in school with the careers of their parents. This year's event will be highlighted by "Operation Constellation Energy Kids," an initiative during which participating children will learn first-hand about Constellation Energy's commitment to the communities it serves. Specifically, the children will be assembling 1,300 individual care packages, within a two hour time span, for soldiers of the Maryland Army National Guard's 58th Brigade Combat Team, who will begin deploying to Iraq today. "This has always been a very special and worthwhile event for Constellation Energy, one that enables our children to understand the opportunities available to them as they begin to think about their futures and the importance of balanced work and family life," said Mayo A. Shattuck III, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Constellation Energy. "We're proud of our commitment to the communities in which we live and work, and even more proud that this year's event will be made more special by the launch of Operation Constellation Energy Kids. It's a privilege for us to be able to play a small role in helping to connect our children with our hometown military heroes in a very real and meaningful way." As part of "Operation Constellation Energy Kids," Constellation Energy employees have been making cash contributions and collecting items for the care packages. The bags, which will be boxed up and forwarded to the unit for distribution once all soldiers have arrived in Iraq, will include items specifically requested by the deploying Maryland Army National Guardsmen including stationery, envelopes, sunscreen, batteries, CDs, DVDs and cans of Old Bay seasoning donated by McCormick & Company. Members of the 58th Brigade Combat Team, based in Pikesville, Dundalk and Annapolis, Md., will participate in the event, as will Maj. Gen. Bruce F. Tuxill, the Adjutant General of the Maryland National Guard. Constellation Energy is a proud supporter of the Guard and Reserve. In particular, more than 20 employees recently returned from active duty and 11 employees are currently on military leave. Other activities that the children will participate in include a field trip to Constellation Energy's Pumphrey Training Center for demonstrations on safe energy production and delivery, as well as contests and other fun activities.
