BALTIMORE, June 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Constellation Energy (NYSE:CEG) today announced that its subsidiary, Constellation Energy Projects & Services Group (CEPS), has named Christopher Abbuehl director of Renewable Energy Programs. In his new role, Abbuehl will lead CEPS' efforts to expand its renewable energy project offerings and will target opportunities to use solar, wind, geothermal and biomass resources to generate clean energy for its expanding customer base across the country. Abbuehl comes to CEPS from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), where he was involved in the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects through DOE's Super Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPCs). He also formerly served in the private sector, helping to develop renewable energy projects in Eastern Europe and Asia. "We are pleased to welcome Chris to our team," said CEPS President Greg Jarosinski. "With Chris' experience and knowledge of the renewable energy markets and technologies, we are seeking to further develop our programs to meet the needs of customers who are looking for practical solutions to stabilize their long-term energy costs at a time in which fossil fuel prices continue to rise." In addition to rising fossil fuel prices, new federal and state incentive programs in the form of tax credits and other subsidies designed to promote the use of renewable energy have made renewable energy systems cost-competitive options to conventional energy systems. Active in the renewable energy market, CEPS currently has a contract with the DOE for the installation of geothermal heat pumps in federal facilities, as well as a separate contract for systems fueled by biomass and alternative methane fuels. CEPS also offers onsite electricity generation (as well as combined heat and power when appropriate) using renewable energy resources such as biomass, geothermal, solar or wind, or similarly clean energy technologies, including fuel cells and microturbines. Customers eligible for this program include industrial companies, large commercial buildings, municipalities and federal agencies. Constellation Energy Projects & Services Group is a full-service energy company, providing customized energy solutions to government, institutional and large commercial and industrial customers nationwide. The company's large array of products and services -- including utility infrastructure outsourcing, energy consulting and energy projects -- are all designed to increase energy efficiency, reliability, cost-effectiveness and improve the customer's bottom line. CEPS is a member of Constellation Energy. Constellation Energy (http://www.constellation.com/), a FORTUNE 200 company with 2005 revenues of $17.1 billion, is the nation's largest competitive supplier of electricity to large commercial and industrial customers and the nation's largest wholesale power seller. Constellation Energy also manages fuels and energy services on behalf of energy intensive industries and utilities. It owns a diversified fleet of more than 100 generating units located throughout the United States, totaling approximately 12,000 megawatts of generating capacity. The company delivers electricity and natural gas through the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE), its regulated utility in Central Maryland.
