Veteran Employee Volunteered for Hurricane Rita Power Restoration Effort BALTIMORE, Sept. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE), a subsidiary of Constellation Energy (NYSE:CEG), today announced that a 38-year-old overhead crew leader with 18 years of service was killed earlier today as a result of an automobile accident in Louisiana, near the Mississippi border. A second employee, a 32-year-old overhead lineman with three years of service, suffered minor injuries. The employees were part of a larger group of BGE employees which departed Saturday in response to Hurricane Rita. "It is difficult to express the deep sadness that all of us in the BGE family are feeling at this moment," said Kenneth W. DeFontes Jr., president of BGE. "We were extremely grateful when all of our employees who responded to Hurricane Katrina returned home safely, but now, with Hurricane Rita, we are reminded of the very real dangers that exist with such assignments. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of both men. We will do all we can to help them through this most difficult time."
