ADRs End Mostly Lower; Eletrobras Edges Down After Hydroelectric Plant Deal

International stocks trading in New York closed mostly lower on
Friday.
The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts
edged down 0.2% to 154.42. The European index ticked down 0.1% to
153.28. The Asian index retreated 0.4% to 171.06, while the
emerging-markets index declined 0.3% to 287.75. The Latin American
index was the only gainer, up 0.2% to 195.69.
BP PLC was among those whose ADRs traded actively.
The oil giant edged up 0.3% a day after the company said it
started oil production at its fifth offshore drilling facility in
the Gulf of Mexico.
Centrais Elétricas Brasileiras SA, or Eletrobras, moved down
0.4% after it agreed to buy stakes in two hydroelectric plants in
the state of Minas Gerais from a unit of Companhia Energética de
Minas Gerais SA, or Cemig.
