WASHINGTON, Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The following is a statement by
Tom Tauke, Verizon executive vice president of public affairs,
policy and communications, on the passing of former FCC
commissioner James Quello. Quello, who died on January 24, was the
longest-serving commissioner and an interim chairman. He retired
from the commission in 1997. "Jim Quello embodied the ideal of
public service. He was a true friend and mentor to hundreds of men
and women in public life and industry. In addition to his many
accomplishments as a leader in the broadcast industry and at the
