CNET Networks (NASDAQ:CNET) today announced the Open Content
Platform, an easy, scaleable way for CNET Networks to share content
with publishers from around the web, giving consumers access to the
content they want, where they want it. Through the Open Content
Platform, CNET Networks can export the best content from its
leading brands BNET, CNET, CHOW, GameSpot, and TV.com, and import
premium content from other publishers to enhance the user
experience on its own sites. Today, consumers spend almost half of
their time online visiting content1. To deliver a great user
experience, publishers need to give their users the best content on
the topics they are passionate about. With the Open Content
Platform, CNET Networks is creating a way for premium content to
flow seamlessly between publishers in five popular categories
business, technology, food, gaming, and entertainment. Publishers
can incorporate CNET Networks content through plug-and-play brand
widgets available at www.cnetnetworks.com/partnerships, or work
with CNET Networks to develop a customized partnership. At CNET
Networks we are focused on creating great user experiences through
premium content, said Neil Ashe, CEO of CNET Networks. With the
Open Content Platform, we are introducing a way for content to move
around the web with no strings attached putting CNET Networks
content in front of people wherever they want to consume it, and
introducing new editorial voices into our branded destinations.
Partners include AOL, YouTube, and NPD Group, as well as more
targeted web sites and popular blogs such as BuddyTV, Cupcake
BakeShop, GeekEntertainmentTV, The Gothamist Network, Revision3,
Savory Cities, Virapop.com, and Wikia. Savory Cities users rely on
our sites to help them find the best places to eat in their city,
said Chris McBride, CEO of Savory Cities. The Open Content
Platform lets us enhance our own site with great content from one
of the leading food web sites, and we also benefit from the
increased brand exposure of our video content on CHOW.com. About
