Consumer electronics are more accessible than ever now that the
Consumer Electronics Association (CEA(R)) and CNET have joined
forces to produce interactive CEknowhow Buying Guides to help
consumers find products best suited for their needs. The Guides,
which can be found on CNET.com and the CEA's consumer information
site, www.MyCEknowhow.com, are intended to ease consumer confusion
about technology and lessen returns by providing useful information
about consumer electronics products before shoppers even enter the
store. The CEknowhow Buying Guides are currently available for
digital imaging products and MP3 players - hot gift items for
upcoming celebrations such as graduation, Mother's Day and Father's
Day. In addition to researching products with the interactive,
Flash media buying guides, consumers can print out PDF summaries
that serve as a checklist they can take into the store. The Buying
Guides are brand-neutral and help consumers with everything from
choosing the right amount of memory for a digital camera to picking
the best accessories for an MP3 player. By year's end, CEknowhow
Buying Guides will also be available for digital television, audio
and wireless products. "The CEknowhow Buying Guides are a great
addition to the tools, resources, and expert editorial content that
CNET currently offers consumers to help them find the product that
is right for them, and make the right buying choices," said Candice
Meyers, senior vice president of CNET. "With its excellent
reputation and a community of millions of loyal users, CNET was the
ideal partner for the CEknowhow Buying Guides," said CEA Senior
Vice President of Industry Relations Todd Thibodeaux. "Our goal was
to create guides that offer the consumer enough information before
the actual purchase to ensure that they buy the right product and
accessories for their individual needs. We're also encouraging
retailers, consumer education and shopping portals, and CEA members
to link to the CEknowhow Buying Guides from their own websites." In
addition to the CEknowhow Buying Guides found at
www.MyCEknowhow.com, other CEA consumer resources include the
Antenna Web locator at www.antennaweb.org, which helps consumers
identify the best antenna for their geographic location, and
TechHome.com, which provides links to local installers. About CEA:
