Webshots (www.webshots.com), a leading photo-sharing community and
a property of CNET Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:CNET), today launched
"Webshots CollegeLive" http://collegelive.webshots.com. Webshots
attracts communities as diverse as college students, families,
travelers, and hobbyists, who all represent a vibrant part of the
site's membership base. Webshots CollegeLive will provide students
from 4,100 colleges and universities in the US, UK and Canada a
place of their own to plan parties and events, share and comment on
photos after the events, connect with others, and celebrate the
most popular people and events. Starting today, Webshots members
with a .edu email address have access to a special Webshots-created
section dedicated to their college, where students can not only see
their own photos, but photos from other students on their campus.
Each college section can only be accessed with a .edu email address
from that school, thereby allowing each college homepage to reflect
the true spirit of its student body. "Students are using Webshots
to celebrate all aspects of campus life -- from sport games to
social events, and they asked us to tailor that experience to their
school and add event planning. We did that and added a little
social theater in the form of popularity rankings and ratings to
keep things entertaining," said Martin Green, senior vice president
of CNET Networks' Community brands. "This fits with our goal to
provide Webshots members with the best place to publish content
important to their life, share with others in their community, and
giving them a stage for the enjoyment of photos and activities they
value most." Other features of Webshots CollegeLive include: --
most popular photos and a running feed of the latest photos posted
for each school -- user profile pages with friends, message boards
and popularity rankings -- event-planning tools that help college
students create interactive invites with photos, polls and message
boards -- "Thumbs Up" ratings and the ability to assign a
"popularity quotient" to everyone on campus and their parties
encouraging online and offline interaction -- a list of the most
popular events upcoming up at their college -- a way to browse past
public events to see what happened, as chronicled by attendees With
its terms of use, Webshots ensures that every community is a place
where people can share photos and connect with others in a fun, but
also trusted and safe environment. This is particularly important
for college students. For more information on what we consider to
