Viking Range Cooks Spam With Tumbleweed MailGate Appliance; MailGate Email Security Solution Provides an Effective, Highly Scal

Business Wire
Tumbleweed(R) Communications Corp. (NASDAQ:TMWD), a leading
provider of email security, managed file transfer, and identity
validation appliance and software products, today announced that
Viking Range Corporation, a manufacturer of professional kitchen
appliances for the home, has deployed Tumbleweed's MailGate(R)
email security product suite to protect its employees and assets
against spam and other email-borne threats. Viking is a pioneer of
ultra-premium, commercial-type appliances for the indoor and
outdoor kitchen. Like many organizations today, Viking struggled to
protect its employees against spam, viruses and other email-related
threats. Prior to deploying the Tumbleweed MailGate email security
product suite, Viking was using another email security solution,
but had been plagued by configuration issues and a lack of timely
spam definition updates, resulting in an ineffective email
protection solution. Poor spam protection led to an increase in
load on Viking's network, as email servers struggled to manage the
high volume of unblocked spam. The unwanted email messages ate
hard-drive space and created a strain on IT resources. "Prior to
deploying Tumbleweed's MailGate email security product suite, we
were fighting a constant barrage of spam on a daily basis," said
Vik Sharma, Network Administrator, Viking Range. "As soon as we
installed the MailGate Appliance(TM), the spam stopped. The results
were like night and day in comparison to our previous solution.
Based on our research of leading industry analyst reports, input
from our technology partners and feedback from current Tumbleweed
customers, we felt very confident in selecting Tumbleweed to help
us address our email security needs." Viking worked with technology
partner Flat Earth Networking, an expert consultancy specializing
in network security, to research the most appropriate security
suite to meet its unique specifications. Flat Earth Networking
worked with Viking to carefully determine which email security
solution would not only address their spam problems but also
provide security technology that grows with the organization and
meets its changing needs. Tumbleweed's MailGate email security
product suite was the clear choice. "We only do network security,
and our reputation is built on working with and recommending the
best security technologies available," said Dave Wilson of Flat
Earth Networking. "Tumbleweed is recognized as an innovator and
leader in the email security space. We are confident that
Tumbleweed's MailGate email security product suite will give our
customers the best possible protection against today's email
security threats." Since implementing Tumbleweed's MailGate email
security product suite, Viking's user productivity has increased
significantly. Tumbleweed's MailGate email security product suite
blocks spam before it can reach Viking's email servers and user
inboxes, preventing internal disruptions. Tumbleweed's MailGate
email security product suite scans nearly 200,000 inbound emails
per week, or over 8 million a year for Viking. IT administrators
can also rely on Tumbleweed's anti-spam service which constantly
updates spam definitions, saving time and freeing up IT resources.
"With the volume of spam showing no signs of slowing down,
organizations like Viking are facing a daunting task of
cost-effectively eliminating email-related threats," said Willy
Leichter, Director, Product Marketing for Email Security at
Tumbleweed. "Our goal is to provide customers like Viking with
comprehensive and easy-to-manage solutions to combat today's email
threats while continually adapting to protect against new threats
that may emerge tomorrow." About the Tumbleweed MailGate Product
