SRS AND TEXAS INSTRUMENTS EXPAND THE
AVAILABILITY OF SRS AUDIO SOLUTIONS AMONG TI CODECS
As a standard feature of the new PCM3070 Codec,
SRS WOW HD Delivers a Wide Stereo Image, Clear Center Vocals and
Impressive Bass for Soundbars and Docking Stations
SRS Labs, Inc. (NASDAQ: SRSL), officially recognized as
one of America’s Greatest Brands and the industry leader in
surround sound, audio and voice technologies, today announced the
expansion of its licensing relationship with Texas Instruments
through the inclusion of SRS WOW HD™ as a standard audio
enhancement feature in Texas Instruments’ new PCM3070 codec
targeting soundbar and docking station OEMs.
Already a standard feature of TI’s miniDSP-based products for
the mobile phone market, the inclusion of SRS WOW HD in the PCM3070
fits into TI’s miniDSP-based home theater solutions, which are
targeting soundbar and docking station OEMs. Customers using TI’s
PCM3070 now have instant access to SRS’ popular WOW HD audio
enhancement solution and, in the near future, more SRS
technologies, including SRS TruSurround HD™, the industry’s leading
front-rendered surround sound solution, and SRS TruVolume®, the
most popular volume leveling solution in the market, will become
available to the PCM3070 adopters through a direct license
agreement with SRS.
“Our previously announced miniDSP relationship with TI has been
a triple-win collaboration for SRS, TI and our mutual customers,”
said Joanna Skrdlant, Senior Director of Global Platforms for SRS
Labs. “TI adds an additional layer of capabilities to their broad
portfolio of high-quality audio products with industry-leading,
premium branded audio solutions from SRS, giving customers an
outstanding solution; SRS benefits from seeding its technologies
further into markets such as mobile devices, soundbars and docking
stations; and OEMs get high-quality and cost-effective miniDSPs
from TI that feature highly recognized audio processing solutions
from SRS Labs that are easy to use and deliver a premium audio
experience.”
Key features and benefits of the PCM3070 Codec:
- SRS WOW HD, included as a standard
feature improves the playback quality of audio, delivering a
dynamic 3D entertainment experience with deep, rich bass and high
frequency clarity for crisp detail.
- Near-term roadmap plans will provide
interested customers with an upgrade path to include SRS®
TruVolume™ and/or SRS TruSurround HD™ through direct
licensing arrangements with SRS Labs, Inc.
- Integrated, programmable 32-bit miniDSP
engines allow for customized processing solutions, including
branded audio effects, multiband dynamic range compression, and
custom filters and algorithms.
- Highly integrated solution, including
24-bit stereo DAC, 24-bit stereo ADC, and integrated PLL simplifies
system design and reduces bill of materials.
- Single-supply power system can run from
1.8 V to 3.6 V.
The new PCM3070 includes a stereo 24-bit
digital-to-analog converter (DAC), stereo 24-bit analog-to-digital
converter (ADC) and integrated phased-locked loop (PLL) for
flexible audio clock generation. The codec enables designers to
produce high-quality, low-cost soundbar solutions and, coupled with
TI’s Value Soundbar Reference Design Kit, develop their
products quickly and cost effectively.
