(Logo: http:www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20050324/LATH060LOGO ) "Impact on Education is pleased to partner with SpectraLink again this year to support and promote both science and the arts in Boulder Valley public schools," said Francie Anhut, CEO of Impact on Education. "The support of a corporation like SpectraLink enables us to positively impact student achievement in the local community." "Education in science, technology and mathematics is fundamental to the success of our industry, and we're proud to support Boulder County students as they endeavor in these studies," said John Elms, SpectraLink president and CEO. "At the same time, I'm delighted to also recognize the artistic talent being developed by programs like Impact on Education's. It's very rewarding to see the work that comes out of these young artists." In its second year, the Impact on Education's 'Clicker' program implements interactive learning by utilizing handheld 'clickers' in middle school math and science classrooms throughout the Boulder Valley School District. Impact on Education is committed to providing clickers to all middle school math and science classes in the district. The cost to outfit a single classroom with clicker technology and provide teacher training on the integration of clickers into classroom curriculum is $5,000, and the results are rewarding. With the use of clickers, student participation increases and test scores improve, especially for underachieving students and English language learners. The 2007 Community Arts Program targets six Boulder Valley School District high schools. Students will submit their art projects, representing a communications-oriented theme, to a panel of judges for recognition and a cash reward. In June, five students are rewarded a cash prize of $1,000 each and the winning pieces are put on display at SpectraLink's corporate headquarters.
