SpectraLink Wi-Fi Handsets Help Hospital Operate Mission Community
Hospital Relies on Time-Saving Wireless Telephones BOULDER, Colo.,
March 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SpectraLink Corp. (NASDAQ:SLNK),
through the SBC family of companies, is helping Mission Community
Hospital improve patient care with its NetLink(TM) i640 Wireless
Telephones. The recently built 150-bed hospital in Panorama City,
Calif., installed SpectraLink(R) NetLink Wireless Telephones in its
nursing and patient care areas to help nursing staff maintain
immediate and direct contact with hospital physicians regardless of
location. Working through SBC companies, Mission Community Hospital
installed 28 NetLink handsets in late 2004. The NetLink i640
Wireless Telephones offer nursing staff complete mobility while
keeping them accessible to patients, physicians and others.
Caregivers are now more responsive and efficient in meeting patient
needs. The NetLink i640 Wireless Telephones also offer a unique
push-to-talk (PTT) functionality that offers hospital staff an
added sense of security by letting them broadcast to multiple
handsets during emergency situations. Leveraging the hospital's
existing Wi-Fi network, the NetLink i640 Wireless Telephones
operate at low power levels minimizing risk of interference with
sensitive medical equipment. "The NetLink handsets are expected to
help us save time and result in improved service to our patients,"
said Dr. Robert Thompson, the hospital's vice chief of staff and a
pulmonary medicine physician. "With the new handsets, we expect
much greater efficiencies in our process for the administration of
both medications and necessary tests." Ash Dave', systems
transformation advisor at Mission Community Hospital, immediately
realized the benefits of a converged voice and data application.
"Our patients, physicians and nursing staff are all expected to
benefit from this technology offered by these unique Wi-Fi
devices." About NetLink Wireless Telephones SpectraLink's NetLink
