Redback Networks Inc. (Nasdaq:RBAK), a leading provider of next-generation broadband networking systems, today announced that Henan Communication Corporation, one of the largest service providers in China and a subsidiary of China Netcom, has deployed Redback's SmartEdge(R) family of routers for a major network build-out that supports broadband services for business and residential customers throughout China's Henan province. Henan Communication provides advanced IP-based services to the Henan Province, which is home to more than 100 million residents and the largest population of China's provinces. Redback's SmartEdge routers were selected because of their proven flexible and reliable subscriber management and edge routing capabilities. The scalable SmartEdge solution also met vigorous network design requirement as Henan Communication plans to expand their subscriber base by nearly 50% in the near future.
