Item 8.01      Other Events

On July 15, 2008, Firstbank Corporation (the “Company”) issued a press release announcing the retirement of James D. Fast as President and CEO of Firstbank–West Michigan, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company, effective August 31, 2008. The press release, attached to this Form 8-K as Exhibit 99.1, also includes information about William L. Benear, who will succeed Mr. Fast as President and CEO of Firstbank-West Michigan.
