State below in reasonable detail why Forms 10-K, 20-F, 11-K, 10-Q, 10-D, N-CEN, N-CSR, or the transition report portion thereof could not be filed within the prescribed time period.

Exicure, Inc. (the “Company”) is unable to file its Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q for the period ended March 31, 2023 within the prescribed time period because of recent turnover within the Company’s accounting and financial reporting department. Also, on May 11, 2023, the Company disclosed that the Company’s independent registered public accounting firm resigned. The Company is in the process of engaging a new independent registered public accounting firm. As a result, the Company does not currently expect to file its Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q by the prescribed due date allowed pursuant to Rule 12b-25.
