Entropic Featured in the Light Reading Webinar "Home is Where the Network Is"
December 09 2013 - 8:00AM
Entropic to Provide Insight on How Advancements
in Set-top Box System-on-a-Chip and MoCA Home Networking Solutions
Empower MSOs' Transition to IP-Based Video Delivery Into and
Throughout the Home
Entropic (Nasdaq:ENTR), a world leader in semiconductor solutions
for the connected home, today announced its participation in the
upcoming Light Reading webinar titled 'Home is Where the Network
Is.' The session, scheduled for one hour on Tuesday, December 10,
2013, beginning at 9:00am PT/12:00pm ET, will address the key cable
operator requirements needed to seamlessly transition to full
IP-based video service delivery over the next few years.
Offering the silicon perspective, Entropic's Roger Gregory, vice
president of Marketing, Cable/Telco Segments, will join Alan
Breznick, a senior analyst at Heavy Reading, and executives from
ARRIS and QuickPlay Media in a discussion on cable multiple-system
operators' (MSOs) impending shift to IP-based video service
delivery without overwhelming their already strained networks.
Entropic plays a key role in this evolution as the company provides
both set-top box (STB) system-on-a-chip (SoC) and Multimedia over
Coax Alliance (MoCA®) home networking solutions to transform how
traditional HDTV broadcast and IP-based streaming video content are
seamlessly, reliably, and securely delivered, processed, and
distributed into and throughout the home.
The webinar will cover:
- When cable operators will start running IP video
simulcasts
- How much extra bandwidth these IP video simulcasts will
consume
- How MSOs intend to leverage the cloud to deliver more
IP-enabled video services
- What new tools cable operators will need to carry out the
transition
- What new devices and/or software will be needed in the
home
- How cable operators plan to distribute IP video signals around
the home
- Which home networking technologies will they employ
"As the only pure-play platform semiconductor company in
connected home entertainment, we are evolving how today's global
service providers advance the way IP-based entertainment is brought
into, distributed and enjoyed throughout the home," said Roger
Gregory. "Our set-top box system-on-a-chip and MoCA silicon
platforms empower service providers to leverage the cloud to
deliver more IP-enabled video services, including interactive
programming guides, networked DVRs, and multi-screen video, among
other IP-based entertainment services, as they move to new
gateway/client architectures in the home."
"This webinar will tackle many of the key questions facing cable
operators as they scramble to upgrade their networks for IP video
delivery in the home," said Alan Breznick, who will host and
moderate the webinar for Light Reading. "Along with that, we'll
also address the latest progress on the multiscreen video front by
cable operators and other service providers."
