Industry Veteran Vahid Manian Joins Entropic Communications as Senior Vice President of Global Operations
August 27 2012 - 8:00AM
Entropic Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:ENTR), a world leader in
semiconductor solutions for the connected home, today announced the
appointment of Vahid Manian as senior vice president of Global
Operations, effective immediately. Manian will lead Entropic's
technical and supply management operations, worldwide. He will be
based out of Entropic's San Diego, Calif. headquarters, and will
report directly to Patrick Henry, Entropic's president and CEO.
A seasoned semiconductor executive with more than 25-years of
proven operations, business and technology experience, Manian will
be responsible for manufacturing operations, product and test
engineering, corporate quality and strategic operations
outsourcing.
"Vahid's operations and technical expertise will ensure Entropic
continues the advancement of our operations strategies to scale
with the global growth of our organization," said Patrick Henry,
president and CEO, Entropic Communications. "Entropic will greatly
benefit from Vahid's ability to align a global strategy with
customer needs and corporate quality from providing cost reduction
and long range capacity planning to the timely delivery associated
with new technology and product platform introductions."
Manian brings to Entropic an exceptional track record for
driving results in product quality and cost reduction. Prior to
Entropic, he was responsible for all operations activity at
Telegent Systems, a leading supplier of silicon solutions for
mobile TV application, later acquired by Spreadtrum Communication,
a Shanghai-based semiconductor company. During his tenure with
Telegent, Manian instituted stringent cost reduction programs,
which resulted in lowering product costs by more than 25-percent in
less than six months. Before Telegent, Manian served as senior vice
president of global manufacturing operations at Broadcom
Corporation, where he oversaw the Company's operations and
manufacturing activities including foundry operations and process
technology direction. Manian joined Broadcom in January 1996, and
established the operations strategy, which helped grow the Company
from a start-up to a multi-billion dollar organization leveraging
best-in-class delivery and inventory management systems.
"Entropic has reached an inflection point in its growth cycle –
achieved through recent acquisitions and an evolving connected home
market," said Manian. "These dynamics created a need to inject
greater efficiency into the Company's manufacturing and operations
processes and a role that will strongly leverage my experience to
drive a culture of execution, accountability and
innovation."
Manian previously served on the Board of Directors, and was
elected vice chairman, of the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA),
which is focused on accelerating the growth and increasing the
return on invested capital for the global semiconductor
industry.
