Business Wire
BackWeb Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: BWEB), a leading provider of
software designed to mobilize existing enterprise applications,
announced that its software has been deployed by ACNielsen, a VNU
business (ASE: VNU). ACNielsen uses the BackWeb software to create
a fully automated, just-in-time data delivery chain that makes use
of low cost synchronization over a virtual private network.
Information freshness is a key competitive advantage for ACNielsen
and its customers. ACNielsen collects retail sales data on a large
number of fast-moving consumer packaged goods. Consumer packaged
goods brand managers and other customers subscribe to this critical
data to spot important business trends, market conditions and sales
results. It is imperative the data be accurate and timely.
Customers often need to work with large amounts of data in their
own business intelligence systems. ACNielsen uses the BackWeb
software to provide a service that automatically synchronizes the
subscribed data from its data warehouses to customer locations.
These customer data packages can be quite large, nearly a gigabyte
in size, requiring the ACNielsen delivery system to be scalable and
be able to deliver data reliably and securely over the internet
without causing network congestion. BackWebs flexible data
acquisition and delivery capabilities enable the ACNielsen service
to capture and deliver data in a polite and light way. As a
result, ACNielsen customers can consistently and accurately analyze
and act on the most current market data available, and ACNielsen
can track and audit their customer data synchronizations to monitor
service levels. BackWeb allows us to efficiently and quickly
deliver data to our clients, said Mike Venaccio, Senior Manager
Technical Administration at ACNielsen. The incremental update
process is key to keeping bandwidth costs at a minimum. BackWeb
software is used by Fortune Global 1000 companies to achieve
reliable synchronization of their applications and data to remote
and mobile audiences, said Bill Heye, Chief Executive Officer of
BackWeb. ACNielsen is one of many companies who rely on BackWeb to
provide a seamlessly automated content delivery system that is both
secure and economical. We are committed to helping ACNielsen and
all our customers achieve cost savings and greater productivity for
employees, partners and customers by synchronization of key data
and web applications. About BackWeb Technologies: BackWeb
