Affymetrix, Inc. (NASDAQ:AFFX) announced today that Jami Dover Nachtsheim and Nelson C. Chan have been appointed to the board of directors, effective March 8, 2010. The board appointed Ms. Nachtsheim to the Compensation Committee and Mr. Chan to the Audit Committee.

The company also announced that John A. Young will retire from the board of directors on Affymetrix on May 14, 2010, the date of the company’s 2010 annual meeting of stockholders, after completing his current term.

Jami Dover Nachtsheim held a variety of positions with Intel Corporation from 1980 until her retirement in 2000, most recently as Corporate Vice President of the Sales and Marketing Group and Director of Worldwide Marketing. Ms. Nachtsheim currently serves on the board of directors of Southwall Technologies, ACT Conferencing, and the Tech Museum of Innovation.

Nelson C. Chan served as Chief Executive Officer of Magellan Navigation, Inc. from 2006 to 2008. From 1992 to 2006, Mr. Chan held various senior management positions with SanDisk Corporation, most recently Executive Vice President and General Manager, Consumer Business. Mr. Chan currently serves on the board of directors of Silicon Labs and Synaptics, Inc.
