PR Newswire (US)
OMAHA, Neb., April 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- iSECUREtrac Corp.
(OTC:ISEC) (BULLETIN BOARD: ISEC) , an industry leader in
electronic monitoring solutions, announced today it was awarded a
statewide contract by the Vermont DOC (Department of Corrections)
for house arrest, remote alcohol testing, active and passive GPS
(Global Positioning Satellite) systems. iSECUREtrac active GPS
monitoring system provides location data and notification of
compliance violations in near real-time, while the passive system
provides daily location and movement reports at specified intervals
during the day. The house arrest system provides information
regarding an offender's presence or absence from a specific
location during specified time periods. iSECUREtrac's remote
alcohol testing integrates video identity verification with breath
alcohol testing and allows officers to select fixed, random
interval and on-demand testing options. In 2006 Vermont passed
legislation for a statewide program utilizing GPS on non-violent
offenders and individuals convicted of Driving While Intoxicated
(DWI) also known as Driving Under the Influence (DUI). Electronic
monitoring was introduced as an option for non-compliant offenders
who would otherwise be incarcerated. "iSECUREtrac is proud to be
selected by the Vermont DOC," said Peter Michel, president and CEO
of iSECUREtrac Corp. "The technology will increase the ability of
officers to better monitor offender compliance and shape more
socially responsible behavior." The statewide plan will begin with
10 sites in a program that will monitor up to 100 offenders at one
time. The application will use GPS technology on DWI and other non
violent felony offenders in a variety of legal statuses including
probation, parole and furlough. The multi-year award, including
potential renewals, runs through 2011. According to the Vermont
Center for Justice Research, in 2005 Vermont imposed sentences on
3,014 DWI offenders. Out of the 3,014 offenders, 511 were second
time offenders and 284 were third time offenders. About iSECUREtrac
