Ultra to supply HiPPAG for US unmanned combat air vehicle programme

Ultra announces that its Precision Air Systems business is to supply its HiPPAG
airborne high pressure air compressor for Boeing's X-45 Unmanned Combat Air
Vehicle (UCAV) programme. HiPPAG will be located in the integrated weapons bay
hoist and will provide the pneumatic energy required to eject munitions from the
X-45 unmanned aircraft.

The X-45 Joint Unmanned Combat Air System (J-UCAS) is being developed by
Boeing's Phantom Works to demonstrate the military value of UCAV systems for the
US Air Force and Navy.

The X-45 J-UCAS aircraft is derived from the X-45A technology demonstrators that
continue in flight test to verify their suitability for various USAF and USN
missions.

Dr Julian Blogh, Chief Executive, Ultra Electronics, commented:

"The selection of Ultra's unique HiPPAG compressors for the X-45 J-UCAS
programme is an important strengthening of the Group's position in the strategic
and fast growing unmanned vehicle equipment sector. It augments the success of
HiPPAG on US Navy F/A-18 E/F aircraft in recent operations and also its
selection for use in the weapons ejection system of the F-35 Joint Strike
Fighter aircraft. Boeing has also adopted HiPPAG for its Small Diameter Bomb
programme in order to launch small, smart munitions from existing USAF and USN
aircraft."
