The Company's ultimate holding company, mg technologies ag ("mg") has announced
its intention to sell its chemical business, Dynamit Nobel ("DN").

Chemetall PLC represents the UK, Ireland and Middle East business of the
Chemetall group, the speciality chemicals division of DN. DN's other four
divisions are Customer synthesis, Plastics, High-performance ceramics and
Pigment chemicals.

Preference shareholders will be advised should there be any change in either the
ownership of the ordinary shares of Chemetall PLC or in the ultimate controlling
shareholder.
