Arctaris Impact invests to revitalize
challenged communities, improve quality of life, and build
sustainable futures by creating economic, social, and environmental
impact.
Arctaris Impact Investors, LLC, a Boston based impact investment
firm that supports revitalization projects in underserved
communities, is proud to present the Arctaris Annual Impact Report:
Financial Innovation. Community Impact. This report showcases the
Firm’s ability to continue to find innovative ways to deploy
capital that create real impact in communities and attractive
returns for investors.
“While changes occur in our communities, our economy, and
beyond, Arctaris continues to find innovative ways to provide value
to communities across the country. Throughout the report, you will
see diverse ways in which Arctaris has found creative ways to
deliver value,” explains Arctaris Impact’s Managing Partner,
Jonathan Tower.
In 2023, the Arctaris portfolio encompassed investments that
increase high-speed broadband access, build new affordable housing,
and support historically under-resourced entrepreneurs. These
investments are anchored by the Firm’s unique approach to
public-private partnership, which combines private capital with
public and/or philanthropic funds to deliver impact while targeting
attractive returns.
Arctaris is proud of the social, environmental, and economic
impact of its investment portfolio. In 2023, the total number of
jobs in the Arctaris portfolio rose 8% to 2,169.1 The total number
of homes and businesses with access to high-speed broadband via the
Arctaris Broadband Company increased 292% to 4,701, and installed
solar capacity increased 13% to 58.3 megawatts.2
During the year Arctaris also completed three New Market Tax
Credit (NMTC) transactions totaling $14M, launched two new
Place-Based Programs (in Lima, OH and the State of Rhode Island),
and celebrated the completion of construction at projects in
Washington, D.C. and Rangeley, ME. Arctaris opened a new
headquarters in Wellesley Hills, MA.
The Firm has maintained a longstanding partnership with the
Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC), a non-profit
research firm founded by Harvard Business School professor Michael
Porter, to measure, track, and communicate the impact data of the
Firm’s investments to its stakeholders. With ICIC’s partnership,
the 2023 Impact Report highlights Arctaris Impact’s work in three
different communities with case studies in Lima, OH, CO
(statewide), and Baltimore, MD. These case studies show the
Arctaris Place-Based Program in action at three different stages:
at the very start of the partnership, after a few investments have
been made, and after years of Arctaris Impact’s presence and
investment.
Arctaris remains steadfast in its commitment to catalyzing
positive change through impactful investments.
