WASHINGTON, Sept. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS) today announced that it has named Peter Challan to the position of Vice President of Washington Programs for the Harris Government Communications Systems Division's (GCSD's) Civil Programs business unit. In this new position, Mr. Challan will be responsible for program execution and for the development of new business with civilian agencies of the U.S. government, particularly those agencies with a presence in and around Washington, D.C. "We are extremely pleased to have Peter on the Harris team," said Al Dukes, president of GCSD's Civil Programs business unit. "His strategic vision, strong business acumen, industry knowledge and ability to effectively lead others will help contribute to Harris' success in growing its civil programs business." Mr. Challan comes to Harris from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), where he was a senior vice president. During his 36-year career with the FAA, Mr. Challan held leadership positions of increasing responsibility for various programs and initiatives, and received numerous awards including the FAA Distinguished Service Award. Mr. Challan has a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the City College of New York. He is a registered Professional Engineer and a member of the Board of Directors for the Air Traffic Control Association.
