Interoperability testing successfully completed between Newport Networks
and BroadSoft in both subscriber access and peering applications.

Newport Networks, the developer of carrier-class VoIP session controllers, today
announced the successful completion of the interoperability testing programme
with BroadSoft Inc, the leading provider of VoIP application software. The
completion of the testing programme will be announced today at the Spring VON
Convention and Expo at San Jose.

Successful interoperability between BroadSoft and Newport Networks means that
service providers offering next generation voice and multimedia services can
utilise the unique session management capabilities of Newport's 1460 session
controller, coupled with the proven flexibility and reliability of BroadSoft's
BroadWorks VoIP applications platform.

"The Newport Networks 1460 has been specifically designed to enable the world's
major carriers to begin offering profitable voice and multimedia services over
IP," comments John Everard, CEO of Newport Networks. "It therefore fully
complements BroadSoft's technology, which also has been developed with the
requirements of these mass-market service providers in mind. Together we can
help Tier-1 carriers, as well as broadband ISP's and 3G cellular operators, to
offer exciting and commercially attractive new services to their customers."

"Carrier class session controllers are driving forward the VoIP revolution,"
says Scott Wharton, Vice President of Marketing for BroadSoft. "Service
providers that deploy BroadSoft's VoIP application software and Newport Networks
VoIP session controllers have increased assurance of interoperability through
Newport's completion of this program."

BroadSoft's VoIP application platform allows service providers to rapidly
develop enhanced telephony features to generate new revenue. As these new
features are deployed, Steve Baechle, Technical Director for Newport Networks,
predicts the challenges of scaling network capacity while maintaining service
quality will increase:

"Our 1460 session controller is an important component of the IP-based service
delivery plans of any service provider. It provides security and control of both
subscriber traffic and core services. The successful outcome of our testing
program confirms that BroadSoft and Newport Networks deliver the most reliable
and scalable system available today for deployment of large scale voice and
multimedia networks."
