                 Kenmare to Issue Full Appeal of Libel Verdict 
 
Kenmare Resources will immediately and vigorously appeal the High Court jury 
verdict delivered yesterday in a defamation case taken by a former company 
director. The full appeal to the Supreme Court will be made with a view to 
setting aside both the verdict and the amount, with the intention of securing a 
retrial. 
 
The amount of EUR10 million which was awarded is over five times greater than the 
previous record amount granted in an Irish defamation case.  This previous award 
is currently under appeal as being grossly excessive. 
 
The court has granted a stay on the award subject to the payment of EUR500,000 
until the hearing of the Supreme Court appeal. Kenmare's legal team strongly 
advise that the award will be set aside on appeal.
