LONDON--Lloyd's of London said Monday that Inga Beale will take
over as chief executive from January, succeeding Richard Ward, who
announced his plan to resign in July.
Ms. Beale will be the 325-year-old specialist insurance market's
first female chief executive.
Most recently, Ms. Beale was group chief executive of Canopius,
the Lloyd's managing agent, and before that she spent four years
with Zurich Insurance.
John Nelson, Chairman of Lloyd's, said Ms. Beale was appointed
because of her underwriting background, international experience
and operational skills, as well as her knowledge of the Lloyd's
market.
Ms. Beale's appointment has been approved by the U.K. Regulatory
Authorities, Lloyd's said.
