BERLIN--Deutsche Post DHL AG (DPW.XE) plans to hire up to 10,000
new employees in Germany by 2020 in response to the growing demand
for parcel delivery being spurred by online shopping, the logistics
company said Thursday.
Because of a sustained increase in demand, the company said it
was looking to increase personnel at regional logistics centers,
and the number of employees could rise by an additional 10,000 by
2025. As part of the expansion, Deutsche Post is establishing new
parcel delivery companies under the umbrella of DHL Delivery GmbH.
These will recruit employees in the coming weeks and months, giving
preferential treatment to current employees with temporary
contracts.
Deutsche Post will employ the new workers in line with
collective labor agreements, but under terms different to those of
current Deutsche Post contracts.
Deutsche Post has been aggressively expanding its services in
recent years, testing the use of drones in Germany since September
and launching a helicopter delivery service in London this
month.
