announced today that Martin A. Durant III has been promoted to
executive vice president and deputy chief financial officer. Susan
R. Blanck has been promoted to first senior vice president of Aflac
Japan. Both promotions are effective June 1, 2008. Durant first
joined Aflac in 1990 as vice president and comptroller of Aflac
Incorporated. He was with Aflac for 10 years, eventually serving as
senior vice president of Corporate Services. In 1999, he accepted a
position with Carmike Cinemas, Inc. as senior vice president and
chief financial officer. Following his retirement from Carmike,
Durant rejoined Aflac in July 2006 as senior vice president of

will continue her work in Aflac Japan's product development area as
well as other strategic marketing initiatives. Commenting on the
announcement, Aflac Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Daniel P.
Amos said: "I'm very pleased to announce the promotions of these
two deserving individuals and valuable members of our management
team. Martin has certainly earned this recognition and is a
tremendous asset to Aflac. In addition to Sue's responsibility of
leading our global actuarial staff, she has spent an increasing
amount of time on Aflac Japan marketing initiatives in recent
years. Her promotion to first senior vice president of Aflac Japan
formalizes her role and recognizes her important contributions to
our Japanese insurance operations." Aflac Incorporated President
and Chief Financial Officer Kriss Cloninger added: "Martin has
extensive accounting and financial expertise and a thorough
understanding of Aflac's operations both in the United States and
Japan. He is a well-respected leader throughout our organization
and brings great enthusiasm to Aflac each day. Since his return to
Aflac in 2006, Martin has made significant contributions to our
business, and I look forward to continuing our close working
relationship on important financial issues. Sue's promotion
recognizes the increasingly important role she has played in Aflac
Japan's marketing strategy and product development initiatives in
recent years. She will continue to be a key member of Aflac
Incorporated's financial team in addition to her role in Aflac
Japan." For more than 50 years, Aflac products have given
