Donation to help fund cutting edge pediatric cancer research SAN
DIEGO, Aug. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Coaches Curing Kids' Cancer was
presented a $15,000 donation from Aflac as the official beneficiary
of the Aflac All-American National Selection Tour. During the
three-month long tour, the top 38 high school baseball prospects
throughout the United States were chosen. "We're honored to receive
this generous donation from Aflac," said Grainne Owen, founder of
Curing Kids' Cancer. "Coaches Curing Kids' Cancer and Aflac make
the perfect team with our identical missions to find cures for
pediatric cancers." "We are pleased to present Coaches Curing Kids'
Cancer with this donation to honor the high school coaches of our
2006 Aflac All-Americans," said Al Johnson, second vice president,
Advertising and Branding at Aflac. "Coaches Curing Kids' Cancer's
goals of honoring coaches while funding cutting edge research for
childhood cancer is a great fit with the Aflac All-American
National Selection Tour." Coaches Curing Kids' Cancer uses a simple
concept to raise money for cancer research. Kids' sports teams
honor their coaches by donating the money they would usually raise
to buy their coach a gift. Coaches Curing Kids' Cancer uses the
money to fund cutting edge pediatric cancer research. In return,
the coach receives an original t-shirt, a certificate and the great
feeling of helping kids kick cancer. Last year -- thanks to the
generosity of youth sports teams around the nation -- Coaches
Curing Kids' Cancer provided funding to the Aflac Cancer Clinic at
Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, the Cancer Institute of New
Jersey, The University of California at San Diego, the Palmetto
Health Cancer Center in Columbia, S.C., Children's Medical Center
in Dallas and Children's Hospital in Seattle. The Aflac
All-American National Selection Tour is a multi-city tour that
traveled to the hometowns of the 38 Aflac All-Americans as they
were officially selected to the team. The country's top rising high
school seniors will face off in an East versus West match-up today
at Tony Gwynn Field at San Diego State University. Baseball America
and Perfect Game are the official selection partners for the event
and choose the players for their accomplishments both on, and off
the field, including their involvement in the community. About
