Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) reported an operational disruption and above-normal gas emissions that were expected to end Tuesday at its refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas.

"Operational issues made flaring necessary," the refinery said in a statement to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. "Returned units to normal operation as quickly as possible."

It said the emissions, including 950 pounds of sulfur dioxide, began Monday morning and could last until Tuesday morning, lasting around 24 hours total.

Valero's 293,000-barrel-a-day refinery in Corpus Christi includes an east plant and a west plant, and this incident happened at the west plant.
