Valero Beats Profit, Sales Expectations As Refineries Stay Busy

Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) reported profits of $856 million in
the third quarter, or $2.01 a share, as the company said its
refineries stayed busy in the period, with capacity utilization at
99%.
Profits rose about 2% compared with the third quarter last year.
Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected a profit of $1.97 a
share.
Sales were up 31% to $30.85 billion, beating the $29.9 billion
expected by analysts.
