Six Flags AstroWorld Salutes America's Soldiers; Park Hosts
Military Family Day on Saturday, May 7, 2005 HOUSTON, April 25
/PRNewswire/ -- Six Flags AstroWorld will host Military Family Day,
a fun-filled day of patriotic events and exhibitions on Saturday,
May 7. Admission is FREE for all Active, Reserve, National Guard
and Veterans of the military branches, and civilian employees of
the DOD, DHS and DAV. Military Family Day begins at 10:00 a.m. with
the raising of the flag and a special presentation at the front
gate. At noon at the park's Center Stage, Six Flags Corporate Vice
President of Operations (ret) Lt. Col. (USAF) Rick Goff will serve
as master of ceremonies for a military commemoration that will
include the presentation of colors, a dedication to fallen soldiers
and patriotic performances. At 2:00 p.m. Maj. (US Army) John
Plaster, author of six best selling books about the secret Studies
and Observations Group of the U.S. Army, will be hosting a book
signing at Southern Star Amphitheatre. Throughout the day
exhibitions, military aircraft and vehicles will be staged inside
the park. The park is offering free tickets to all military members
and tickets for family and friends of attending military for $17.99
if purchased before 5:00 p.m. on May 6. Military members and their
families and friends are encouraged to reserve their tickets early
by calling Carolyn Ewing at 713-794-3211 or 281-794-9710. Cash,
checks and credit cards are accepted. To gain free admission at the
gate, all military, veterans or DOD employees must show proper
identification, consisting of military or employee IDs, VA Benefit
card, DD-214 or Honorable Discharge Certificate. Family members
only may purchase tickets at the gate for $17.99 on May 7 prior to
1:00 p.m.; ID is required, no exceptions. Tickets purchased after
1:00 p.m. will be $41.99 plus tax (general admission price).
Children 2 and under are free. Military Family Day is open to the
public, and all guests can enjoy the special events and the park's
33 exciting rides and attractions with park admission! Six Flags
AstroWorld is open on May 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and is
located in Houston on Loop 610 across from Reliant Park at the
Fannin exit. The park is accessible from a parking area and
