It is with regret that National Fuel Gas Company (NYSE: NFG) announces that on Thursday, August 7, 2008, John F. Riordan, 72, a member of the National Fuel Gas Company Board of Directors since 2000, passed away after a short illness. Riordan�s 40-year career in the energy industry included serving as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Gas Technology/Gas Research Institute, President and Chief Executive Officer of MidCon Corporation and President of the commodity chemical business at Occidental Petroleum. �Our sympathies are with John�s family at this sad time. He was a most valuable member of our Board of Directors and his leadership and keen insight strongly contributed to the success and growth the Company has achieved.
