MILPITAS, Calif., Jan. 4, 2012 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- LSI
Corporation (NYSE: LSI) today announced that the LSI®
SandForce® SF-2200 Flash Storage Processor has been
honored with an Electronic Products Magazine 2011
Product of the Year award.
Now in its 36th year, the annual Electronic Products'
"Product of the Year" Awards recognize the best products introduced
into the market in the past year. The editors of Electronic
Products, a leading trade publication for electronic design
engineers, evaluated thousands of products launched in 2011. The
winning products were selected on the basis of innovative design,
significant advancement in technology or application, and
substantial achievement in price and performance.
The second-generation LSI SandForce SF-2200 is demonstrating
success in the rapidly growing flash storage and SSD processor
market space by combining enterprise-class performance and
endurance features with low power consumption for cost-sensitive
enthusiast and client computing environments.
"We knew there were a number of really impressive
high-performance solid state drives that came out in the last
year," said Jim Harrison, west coast
editor, Electronic Products. "When looking at these
drives we said, 'wait a minute, these all have one thing in common
– the SF-2200 SSD processor from SandForce.' When we looked a
little further at the IC, we knew this was a winner."
"Flash storage processors provide the intelligence required to
unlock the productivity benefits of application acceleration and
low latency that is delivered by flash storage in servers, storage
and client devices," said Michael
Raam, vice president and general manager, Flash Components
Division, LSI. "SandForce flash storage processors are at the heart
of the LSI WarpDrive® family of PCIe® flash
adapters and many of the industry's leading solid state drives.
This prestigious award recognizes the innovative design and
price/performance advantages of the SF-2200 processor for our
customers."
The 2011 Product of the Year Awards were announced in the
January 2012 issue of Electronic
Products with a cover feature and a brief description of each
product. The LSI SandForce SF-2200 processor product of the year
winner's story also appears online at the Electronic
Products' website.
