April 8, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- LSI Corporation (NYSE:LSI)
today announced that it will present the results of research and
benchmarking tests conducted using Intel(R) QuickAssist Technology
to couple high-performance Tarari(R) content processing
accelerators and Quad-Core Intel(R) Xeon(R) processors at the RSA
Conference 2008, held April 7-11 at the Moscone Center, San
Francisco, Calif. LSI has also created a standard lab environment
to conduct performance benchmarking studies that will allow
developers to accelerate application-specific workloads when
coupling Tarari content processing technology within Quad-Core
Intel(R) Xeon(R) processor-based systems. Application-specific
workloads will include intrusion prevention, anti-virus,
anti-spyware, compliance, QoS, content-based filtering and billing,
and technologies for securing XML traffic. Design blueprints,
studies, white papers and articles will be published on both the
LSI and Intel website for the industry as part of a long-term,
on-going program. "These blueprints, research and benchmarks are
critical for developers building next-generation storage and
networking switches and appliances," said Randy Smerik, senior vice
president, Network Components Group, LSI. "We are committed to
sharing our thought leadership in this area and make it as easy as
possible to best utilize content processing technology alongside
multi-core processor platforms." Pranav Mehta, senior principal
engineer and chief technical officer, Embedded and Communications
Group, Intel, added, "Effective integration of accelerators is an
integral part of the Intel QuickAssist technology initiative to
deliver market-leading solutions on Intel architecture. We are
working with LSI to provide optimization and interoperability
between Quad-Core Intel(R) Xeon(R) processors and LSI Tarari
content processors which provides customers enhanced performance
and improved time-to-market for secure applications." Smerik and
Mehta will be discussing the first performance findings on a panel
at the conference on Friday, April 11, at 11:10 a.m. titled
"Multi-Core Intel Architecture plus Accelerators: A Performance
Study." LSI will also demonstrate the benchmarks and lab setup at
the RSA Conference Exposition in its booth (#500) during exhibit
hours daily. Additional demonstrations will be shown at Interop
2008 in Las Vegas, April 27-May 2, and the Infosecurity Europe
conference in London, April 22-24. LSI Corporation is an affiliate
