KBR (NYSE: KBR) today announced that its Building Group has been awarded a contract by a joint venture sponsored by Priderock Capital Partners LLC to construct The Heritage at Georgia Avenue, an apartment complex, in Silver Spring, Maryland. The Building Group’s Washington regional office based in Vienna, Va., will lead the $30+ million project. Construction is scheduled to begin immediately.

The Building Group is providing construction management services for the project — a new nine-story structure that will be connected to two existing buildings on the 1.88-acre property, one of which will be completely renovated under this same contract. The Heritage, which will house 210 units and two levels of underground parking, has been designed to achieve LEED Certification. The Preston Partnership, LLC, is the architect of record.

“The Heritage at Georgia Avenue is intended to provide high quality rental housing with well-appointed amenities,” said David Zimmerman, President, KBR Services. “Priderock’s selection of the Building Group to construct this apartment complex is attributable to our extensive experience with mixed-use projects in Greater Washington and our expertise with sustainable building practices.”

KBR is a global engineering, construction and services company supporting the energy, hydrocarbon, government services, minerals, civil infrastructure, power, industrial, and commercial markets. For more information, visit www.kbr.com.
