KBR (NYSE: KBR) announced that its Building Group has been awarded a contract by Carolinas HealthCare System (CHS) to provide preconstruction and construction services at its Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville, North Carolina. Construction is underway and is slated for completion by November 2012.

The project will include 245,000 square-feet of new construction which includes a new 114-bed patient tower, a maternity center expansion, and a surgery addition. The project also includes 56,000-square-feet of phased renovations throughout the facility.

The Building Group recently completed other construction projects on the Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville campus including a multi-phase, expansion and renovation program, a medical office building and parking facility in addition to a site campus improvement program.
