Harris Corporation's Dr. Andrew Clark Receives Distinguished Achievement Award from Marine Technology Society

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Oct. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dr.
Andrew Clark, president of Harris Maritime Communication Services,
a subsidiary of Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), today received the
prestigious Compass Distinguished Achievement Award from the Marine
Technology Society. Sponsored by Compass Publications and the Swiss
watchmaker Rolex, the award is the industry's highest honor and is
presented annually to only one individual among nominees from
around the world. Dr. Clark was honored for his distinguished,
34-year career of significant achievements and contributions to the
field of ocean technology. The award was presented during the
Oceans 2007 MTS/IEEE conference held September 29 through October 4
in Vancouver, British Columbia. Harris Maritime Communication
Services (MCS) is a pioneer and world leader in developing
autonomous ocean observing technology that transmits data from the
sea floor and ships at sea. MCS uses this same technology to
provide broadband communications to some of the most underserved
regions of the world -- from remote scientific outposts in the
polar regions to countries devastated by natural or man-made
disasters. Under Dr. Clark's leadership, MCS has provided vital
communications lifelines and telemedicine for humanitarian and
peacekeeping efforts for the World Health Organization, United
Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, African Development Bank,
and NATO. In 2005, in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina,
Dr. Clark and a team of Harris employees transported truckloads of
equipment and worked with first responders over the next several
weeks re-establish emergency communications in some of the most
devastated areas of the U.S. Gulf Coast region. Prior to joining
Harris in 1998, Dr. Clark's was involved in the development of
manned and unmanned vehicles and systems used in deep-sea
exploration. "Andy has a long and distinguished record not only in
science and technology, but in national and international

prestigious award." Past recipients of the Compass Distinguished
Achievement Award have included the former Chief of U.S. Naval
Operations and Energy Secretary Admiral James Watkins; NOAA
Administrator and Undersecretary of Commerce, Vice Admiral Conrad
Lautenbacher; National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence Dr. Sylvia
Earle; and U.S. Navy Commander Don Walsh, who piloted the
deep-diving bathyscaphe Trieste to the bottom of the Challenger
Deep -- a depth of more than seven miles. Dr. Clark has received a
number of industry awards during his career, including the Lockheed
Martin Medal for Ocean Science and Technology. In 1998 he was
appointed to the U.S. Ocean Research Advisory Panel by the U.S.
Secretary of the Navy. He is a member of the Sea-Space Symposium, a
select group of space and ocean explorers, and serves as a Trustee
on the Boards of the Florida Institute of Technology and the Link
