Eaton Corporation (ETN) introduced a new battery backup system called Eaton 3S.

The company said the 3S is a highly-efficient, reliable power protection and surge device capable of protecting small office or home office (SOHO) equipment, personal computers (PCs), networked workstations, telephony equipment and home entertainment systems against from poor quality power and failures.

The 3S includes EcoControl power outlets on its 750 VA model that can control the shutdown of accessory devices to save up to 30% in energy consumption. The 3S provides surge protection for up to 10 devices, including five battery backup receptacles, as well as devices connected to data lines.

Eaton’s new 3S is integrated with the company’s award-winning Intelligent Power Protector software, which allows users to efficiently manage and monitor multiple power devices on a network. The software also helps safe shutdowns of powered devices when an extended power outage occurs.

Additionally, the 3S has been designed to operate out of the box with Windows, Macintosh and Linux systems . With several useful and energy-efficient features, Eaton’s new 3S model offers affordable, easy-to-use power protection for home, small offices and retail environments.

Eaton Corp. is scheduled to release its second quarter 2011 financial results on July 25, 2011. The Zacks Consensus Estimates for the second quarter 2011, fiscal 2011 and fiscal 2012 are 95 cents, $3.92 and $4.65 per share, respectively.

Eaton Corporation currently retains a Zacks #2 Rank (short-term Buy rating). We maintain our long-term Outperform rating on the stock. The company competes with ITT Corporation (ITT) and Parker Hannifin Corporation (PH).
