Eaton Corporation (ETN) said it has contracted with Hypower Inc. to provide a majority of energy distribution system products for the new $665 million Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center in Orlando, Florida.

Hypower Inc., a Florida-based electrical contractor and longtime Eaton customer, is in charge of constructing the medical center, which is a federal funded project. Eaton will supply switchgears, panel boards, switchboards, motor control center lineups, Power Xpert remote meter monitoring software, power factor correction capacitors, unit substations, and a combination of drives for the project. Additionally, it will provide arc flash labels and training, and system startup.

Through this project Hypower aims to provide the VA Medical Center in Orlando with an electrical distribution system that will help maximize energy efficiency and save taxpayers money. This project also strengthens Eaton’s ties with government organizations and the companies that serve them due to its ability to meet Hypower’s tight deadlines together with providing innovative solutions.

This contract is among the several recent projects that Eaton has undertaken for the Federal Government. In the recent past, Eaton has been involved in the designing and installation of a $20 million Solar Photovoltaic System at the Albuquerque, New Mexico Department of VA Health Care System facility. The company also has in place an $8 million project to supply electrical products and services for the San Antonio Military Medical Center on the Fort Sam Houston Army base in Texas.

Among other noteworthy Federal projects for the company are a contract to supply hybrid electric power systems for 35 fuel-efficient shuttle buses purchased by the U.S. General Services Administration for use on U.S. military bases and providing energy conservation at the United States Postal Service (USPS) Eastern Facilities Service Office at postal facilities in North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and South Carolina.
