As Houston City President, Montgomery is responsible for Commercial Banking, Large Middle Market, Commercial Real Estate and Residential Real Estate.  In addition to those responsibilities, Montgomery also assumes the role of Chairman of the bank's Houston Advisory Board of Directors.

"Mark's performance as Manager of the Houston Commercial Banking Group for BBVA Compass has been stellar," said Rafael Bustillo, executive vice president and head of Corporate Banking. "With the expertise and knowledge of the market that he has honed in his 25 years in banking, Mark was a natural selection to lead our team in Houston. I look forward to seeing our presence in the Houston market continue to grow under his leadership as we work together to provide industry leading products and services."

Prior to joining BBVA Compass in August of 2008, Montgomery served in line and leadership capacities in Commercial Banking at Bank of America.  Most recently, Montgomery was Sales Performance Executive for the Midwest and Southwest Region, which included integrating the business processes related to sales for the recently acquired La Salle Bank.  All told, Montgomery has over 25 years of banking experience, having begun his career at Allied Bank in Houston in 1984.

A native of Texas, Montgomery graduated from the University of Texas, Austin and is active in many civic activities including serving on the Advisory Boards for Rice Alliance and Center for Leadership Development at the College of Biblical Studies.

Montgomery resides in Houston and is married with three children.
