Barnes Group Inc. (NYSE:B), a diversified global manufacturer and logistical services company, announced the appointment of Claudia Toussaint as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary. She succeeds Signe S. Gates, who retired April 1 after more than 10 years with the Company.

Before joining Barnes Group, Ms. Toussaint was responsible for legal affairs as well as corporate governance and legal support for the Board of Directors at Embarq Corporation, a telecommunications company which was recently acquired by CenturyTel, Inc. She served as Vice President, Corporate Secretary and Chief Ethics Officer for the Company from 2005 to 2009. Prior to Embarq, Ms. Toussaint served as Vice President, Corporate Governance and Ethics, and Corporate Secretary for Sprint Corporation, a role she assumed in April 2003. From 1997 through early 2003, she served as an attorney for Sprint and its operating subsidiaries in roles of increasing and varied responsibility. Before joining Sprint in 1997, Ms. Toussaint was an attorney at the Los Angeles office of Morrison & Foerster LLP.

Ms. Toussaint holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of California in Los Angeles. She is currently President of the Kansas City Chapter of the Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals, and was voted one of Kansas City’s top women executives in 2008 by Ingram’s Magazine.

Ms. Toussaint will be relocating to Connecticut from Kansas.
